Huw Irranca-Davies, MP for Ogmore, officially opened the Pencoed Craft and Small Business Indoor Market on Saturday the 14th February.
The craft and small business market took place in the afternoon and included stalls from a wide variety of local businesses selling everything from crafts and gifts to local food produce. The event provided a fun afternoon out for all ages. The market gave the local community the chance to come together to enjoy a welsh cake and support small businesses in the area.
The craft market was organised by Maria Stevens. Ms Stevens kindly offered all Pencoed businesses who wished to participate a free table at the event in order to help establish the Pencoed Craft and Small Business Market as a regular market. Ms Stevens worked closely with the Pencoed Town Council to make the event a success.
Speaking about the market, Ms Stevens said, ‘I am passionate about small business and wish to promote Pencoed businesses as I believe we have a wealth of talented crafters and wonderful small businesses in the village.’
Speaking after opening the event, Huw said, ‘I am extremely grateful toMaria for inviting me to open the market. I came away with great locally-made gifts and freshly-made preserves, cakes and delicious pasties. My waistline is fuller and my wallet a bit emptier, but like everyone else who attended I was delighted with the event.’
‘It was wonderful to meet small business owners and crafters from the local area and to see first-hand both the entrepreneurial as well as the creative talent in Pencoed.’
