Huw Irranca-Davies, MP for Ogmore, took time out during a busy day in Parliament to meet constituents from Ogmore as part of the ‘Speak Up for Climate’ lobby.

Campaigners from the constituency of Ogmore took the opportunity to ask Huw Irranca-Davies to do all he can in this Parliament to ensure warm homes for all, clean, safe power, that people and nature are protected, and that the poorest in the world who are most affected by climate change are helped. Huw Irranca-Davies heard about the importance of world leaders reaching an ambitious global agreement on climate change this year.

Speaking after the event, Huw Irranca-Davies said, “It was wonderful to see so many thousands of people taking part in this important lobby. I enjoyed meeting my constituents from Ogmore, and am very grateful to them for coming along.”

“My constituents told me about what they love and how it is at threat from climate change. I agree, and will do all I can in Parliament to speak up for what they love. In this important year for climate change, I hope that we will see real progress towards a global climate change deal.”

Chris Bain, Director of aid agency CAFOD, said: “The people we work with overseas are telling us that a changing climate is pushing them and their communities deeper into poverty.”

“This event is about speaking up for the people and things we care about most, and by lobbying our MPs, we’re starting a chain reaction that will encourage the UK Government to lead the charge for a more sustainable world for all.”
