Huw recently attended the Bridgend Association of Voluntary Organisations (BAVO) annual Bridgend County Borough Volunteer Achievement Awards in Bridgend alongside special guests Janice Gregory AM, Jayne James the Mid Glamorgan High Sheriff, the Vocalmotion school choir, and soloist Emily March from Ysgol Brynteg.
Speaking at the event Huw said “It was a privilege to take part in this celebration of volunteers, with so many inspiring personal stories. My congratulations to all the award winners and to BAVO for organising such a wonderful event.”
BAVO’s Chief Executive, Heidi Bennett said “With more nominations coming through, the task of the judging panel was particularly difficult this year. There are thousands of fantastic volunteers in Bridgend county borough, two of whom received a WCVA National Award. Volunteers make a real difference to charities and ultimately to people’s lives and we were delighted to be able to recognise their hard work and achievements through this event. I am thankful also to all the sponsors who helped make the event a very special occasion indeed.”
