This November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month and a recent event at the Senedd saw Assembly Members ‘on purple alert’ raising awareness of the dreaded disease which is predicted to be the 4th biggest cancer killer in the UK by 2026.
Ogmore Assembly Member and Minister for Children and Social Care, Huw Irranca-Davies who attended the event, heard about Pancreatic Cancer UK’s ‘Promoting Innovative Practice Campaign’ and how the Ogmore Constituency was performing.
Following the event the Huw commented: “One person dies of pancreatic cancer every hour in the UK and it was alarming to hear that in 2015 this awful disease claimed the lives of 76 people living in Ogmore.
Pancreatic Cancer UK ‘s hard work and awareness raising initiatives aim to ensure people get all the help they need. Through research, support and campaigning they are transforming the future for people affected by the disease and will hopefully help towards increasing survival rates for this cancer.”
