In true Y Bont style, young ‘Y Bontees’ along with their families, friends and carers had a great day in the sunshine at the charity’s annual sponsored walk this year held on National Children’s Day.
An important part of the local community, Y Bont provides care to young disabled children whilst also supporting their families. This is achieved through high quality play, support and medical services.
The much loved children’s charity whose mission is to ‘enable children with disabilities to fulfil their potential’, organised a wonderful, fun-filled fancy dress event which saw lots of delightful character costumes. This year’s theme being ‘National Costumes’ from around the world.
A regular visitor and supporter of Y Bont, Ogmore Assembly Member Huw Irranca-Davies was invited along to join in the ‘walk’ on the grounds of Heronsbridge School with Bridgend County Borough Council Mayor Councillor John McCarthy and consort Mrs Judy McCarthy and other invited guests.
Speaking after the event the Ogmore AM said: “Always a joy to meet up with everyone at Y Bont and my thanks to the children, staff and carers for inviting me along. The children (and staff!), were delighted to don their ‘fancy dress character’ costumes and we all had a great day. Well done everyone involved.”
