25th January marked this year’s Young Carers Awareness Day 2018. A chance to recognise the hard work and pressures that the UK’s young carers face.
Alongside the Awareness Day, Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council recently held their Young Carers Recognition Evening providing a platform to recognise the fantastic work of the young carers living in Rhondda Cynon Taf.
Attending the event Ogmore Assembly Member and Welsh Government Minister Huw Irranca-Davies handed out awards and spoke to many of the carers who had been selected for prizes in recognition of the challenges they face and overcome on a daily basis.
In praise of the young carers the Assembly Member stated: “Congratulations to all the winners on receiving their awards. Young carers throughout Wales and the UK are caring for a sick of disabled family member and many go unnoticed and unrecognised. Our young carers are valued and extremely important for the work they do and it is essential we ensure they and their families are supported as a whole.”
