Anwen Care Home situtated in Pantyrawel in the Ogmore Valley, was the former Blackmill Hospital and is a state of the art facility providing care for people living with dementia.
Following the completion of their brand new extension, residents are now able to use the lower ground floor and garden area.
Ogmore representatives Huw Irranca-Davies AM and Chris Elmore MP were invited to the opening of the new extension and launch of the Care Home’s support for the NSPCC Cymru fund-raising project.
After officially opening the extension, Welsh Government Minister for Children and Social Care Huw Irranca-Davies AM commented: “It was a pleasure to visit the staff and residents of Anwen again and to open their newest extension. Providing 80 beds with person-centred dementia care, the facility incorporates some of the best ideas and effective approaches around on dementia care”.
Chris Elmore MP stated: “Anwen’s extension truly is an example of first-class care and is a brilliant example of good practice for the whole of the care sector. It’s been a privilege to be here today to meet with staff and residents – I’m delighted that we have this first-class provision nestled on our doorstep in the Ogmore Valley.”
