Ogmore representative Huw Irranca-Davies AM enjoyed tea and cake whilst supporting Pencoed Mothers’ Union annual fund-raising event held in St David’s Church, Pencoed.
The Mothers’ Union have a caravan sited on Trecco Bay, Porthcawl, which they offer to families in need who may otherwise not be able to get away and have a holiday. The much-needed funds raised on the day will help them continue to provide this ‘Away From It All’ (AFIFA) holiday service and provide a family with a free to stay caravan holiday.
This is a hugely important project as it has already helped many families overcome stress and adversity in their daily lives and left them with a positive outlook as they plan for the future. It’s true that time out and a break away can go a long way to mend family relationships and improve children’s behaviour, both at home and at school.
Following the event Huw Irranca-Davies AM said: “A lovely interlude to a busy day, joining Pencoed Mothers’ Union for their charity fund-raising afternoon, with wonderful harpist Heledd Lyne. Well done to the members, volunteers and everyone else involved who helped make the day a great success. Lots of money raised for a good cause.”
