A recent ‘Protecting Your Voice’ event held at the Assembly by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists, saw Huw Irranca-Davies AM receiving practical advice from experts on how to protect his voice.
Huw was also told how therapists from across Wales are helping to transform lives by supporting people of all ages with swallowing and communication needs. More than half of children in deprived areas and nearly two thirds of young offenders have speech, language and communication needs, along with one in three stroke survivors.
Huw stated “Around 60,000 people in Wales have speech, language or communication problems which can severely limit their participation in family life, the community and world of work. I applaud the sterling work of these expert therapists in helping people to overcome these difficulties”.
