Following an NSPCC petition signed by over 50,000 people, the UK Government introduced a new offence of sending sexual communication to a child via the Serious Crime Act in March 2015.
Assembly Member Huw Irranca-Davies AM and his colleagues in support of this campaign have raised concerns that the UK Government has still not set a start date for this law.
Huw said: “Every day we wait is another day children are at risk. I and the Welsh Government are calling on the UK Government as a matter of urgency to ensure this legislation commences as soon as possible. It is essential that our police have this vital tool to help protect children from abuse”.
