With more than 23,000 men diagnosed with bowel cancer in the UK every year, it has become the third most common cancer in men. However it shouldn’t be as it is treatable and curable, especially if diagnosed early.
Ogmore Assembly Member Huw Irranca-Davies is encouraging people to support Bowel Cancer UK’s ‘Decembeard’ fundraising campaign by not shaving their facial hair throughout December. Dads, brothers, sons, nephews, grandads, uncles, can all help with any money raised going towards funding vital services and lifesaving research to prevent bowel cancer.
Mr Irranca-Davies, who is also the Welsh Government Minister for Children, Older People and Social Care, said: “A great cause with lots of fun whilst sending a serious message. Taking part is simple and it doesn’t matter if you already have a beard. You can still get involved by dyeing, ditching or decorating your beard. Join with us and wear your beard proudly throughout December knowing you are helping to ensure a future where nobody dies of bowel cancer.”
Ask your family and friends to join in by fundraising either individually or as a team. Create fun challenges over length, style and even colour.
