Huw has praised the Welsh Government’s announcement that they will invest an additional £30 million this year towards providing 20,000 affordable new homes in Wales.
The Welsh Labour Government’s affordable housing target of 10,000 additional affordable homes in the last Assembly was exceeded with the housing Supply Pact between the Welsh Government and Community Housing Cymru playing an important role in meeting that target.
Locally, last year, both Rhondda Cynon Taf and Bridgend Councils combined, were successful in providing 1,112 new affordable dwellings throughout the boroughs, allowing families who want to stay close to their home communities to live and work.
Huw stated: “It is encouraging to hear this news which highlights the Welsh Labour Government’s plans to invest over £1.5 billion in affordable homes during this term of government. There is an acute shortage of housing in Wales and any investment will help in delivering good quality, affordable homes for children and families over the next 5 years”.
