This year’s Holocaust Memorial Day, Saturday 27th January marks the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau and provides an opportunity to commemorate the Holocaust and subsequent genocides.
At the Senedd, Assembly Members were asked to sign the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Book of Commitment to show their support for Holocaust education and remembrance in the UK.
Ogmore Assembly Member and Welsh Government Minister Huw Irranca-Davies AM pledged his continued support by signing the book and said: “We must never forget. The tireless work of Holocaust survivors ensures this message is not lost and passed down to future generations. Everyone, of all faiths, ages and backgrounds must learn lessons from our past and work to create a safer, better future.
Huw continued: “The Holocaust Memorial Day Trust do great work organising various commemorative events all over the country and I look forward to supporting them again this year at local events being held in Ogmore over the coming days”.
