Huw Irranca-Davies AM and Chris Elmore MP are are delighted to have been informed by Pencoed Medical Centre that they will be expanding their GP surgery provision in Llanharan from the start of September.
This is wonderful news for the local community, and we’d like to thank the Practice Manager and clinicians and staff at Pencoed Medical Centre for taking this decision. We are sure that in doing so they also heard the concerns expressed by local people and elected representatives over a long period.
Pencoed Medical Centre will be opening their Llanharan surgeries all day Monday to Thursday and on Friday mornings from Monday 2nd September 2019. This will be of particular help to those who are not able to travel easily to the Pencoed Medical Centre main site. Contact the Medical Centre directly nearer the date, or check the updates on their website https://www.pencoedmedical.com for further information.
There have been many, many meetings raising the concerns of local residents over the last couple of years and a huge amount of work behind the scenes with Cwm Taf and ABMU Health Boards with the energy and backing of our local Assembly Member Huw Irranca-Davies and Chris Elmore MP , local Councillors like Geraint Hopkins and Roger Turner and Community Councillors and campaigners like Chris Parker and Lady Sarah Jane Liney and Maria Thomas.
Throughout it all, there has been consistent support from local people who made their desire for an expanded service so clear over such a long time. We even had a debate in the National Assembly for Wales!
We are pleased to have worked with local residents and partners to help to raise their concerns and to seek a solution. And we are so pleased that the Pencoed Medical Centre has made their decision to expand their provision in Llanharan.
So now it is coming MAKE USE OF IT! We hope local people will now show that there is a real demand for this service, after such a long campaign and so much hard work to make it happen.
