AM invited to see Garth Primary pupils ‘BEEing’ environmentally friendly

The Reception Class at Garth Primary School invited their local Assembly Member Huw Irranca-Davies to their school fair showcasing all their hard work and efforts to be environmentally friendly by tackling plastic pollution.

The primary school pupils told their AM how they’d been learning about oceans and sea creatures this term and were worried that our planet’s sea creatures are in danger. As such they are asking their AM and other schools to start thinking about using alternative drinks containers to avoid using plastic bottles.

In an effort to be more environmentally friendly, the pupils have also replaced their daily milk allowance provided in individual bottles with straws, to each pupil now having a cup of milk taken from a larger bottle instead, cutting down on waste and no straws.

Huw Irranca-Davies AM said following the visit:  “I was blown away with the wonderful environmental work by the pupils at Garth Primary and the great collaboration between the teachers and parents.

Well done to everyone for playing a part in tackling the plastic pollution of our environment and thank you all for a fantastic visit. Good luck to the young bee entrepreneurs too who are using the bees as a focus of their project – great work.”
