During a visit to ReNeuron in Pencoed, Ogmore representatives Huw Irranca-Davies AM (Minister for Children and Social Care) and Chris Elmore MP were impressed to hear how well the company have settled into South Wales and are now expanding overseas.
ReNeuron is hugely successful in using unique stem-cell technologies to develop cell based therapies for significant wide-ranging disease conditions. Pioneering research into the treatment of patients left disabled by a stroke is among their ground-breaking work.
Following a tour of the laboratories and facilities Assembly Member Huw Irranca-Davies said: “I am proud that Ogmore is home to this pioneering company who are global leaders in developing stem-cell therapy programmes.
With continued support from the Welsh Labour Government, ReNeuron’s Pencoed base is key to them becoming one of the most advanced commercial cell therapy research and manufacturing facilities in the world.”
Ogmore MP Chris Elmore said: “I’m so glad that companies such as ReNeuron have decided to base themselves in Pencoed. It shows just what an attractive area this is to live and work. Thank you to all of the staff who showed us around the labs – it really was very interesting to see what world-leading research is happening on our doorstep!”
