In June of this year the Cross Party Group on the Active Travel Act held a highly successful Active Travel and Schools Evidence Gathering Event. The event was attended by over fifty education professionals, local authority officers, children, politicians and campaigners. We have been using the issues raised at the event to produce an Active Travel to Schools Toolkit.
The Cross Party Group on the Active Travel Act want the toolkit to be an effective aid for people who want to make it easier for children to walk and cycle to school instead of travelling by car. We therefore want input from a wide range of practitioners into the draft of the document and ideas on how we can make best use of it.
To enable this we are holding an event in National Assembly for Wales from 12.00 noon to 1.30pm on Monday 25 November 2019. The draft document will be sent out to attendees in advance of the event.
The event will also consider what actions local authorities and Welsh Government need to take to bring about real change in the way children travel to school. We are pleased to announce that the event will also include a Q&A with the Welsh Government minister responsible for active travel, Lee Waters AM.
There are still a limited number of places available, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve a place (deadline 12.00 noon Friday November 22nd).
